Monoclonal Antibody Sequencing
Have an antibody you like but no way to make more?
We developed the world’s first monoclonal antibody sequencing service. Our proprietary Valens technology has been used to sequenced hundreds of antibodies.
Full length antibody sequence recovered!
100% sequence coverage guaranteed!
Free Isoleucine/Leucine calling with our proprietary CLIP module!
Why choose Abterra Bio?
- EXPERIENCE: We launched the first commercial antibody sequencing service in 2012, with over 20 years of technology development under our belts.
- LOW SAMPLE REQUIREMENTS: 50-100 ug is the ideal case, but we’ve worked with much less!
- ALL WORK IN THE USA: Our lab is located in the US, with convenient domestic shipping for US customers, and partners in Europe and Japan.

Monoclonal Antibody Sequencing Process
INPUT
50ug of monoclonal antibody (purification can be performed if needed).
ENZYMATIC DIGESTION
Antibody is digested with multiple enzymes to generate peptides that cover the entire protein.
MASS SPECTROMETRY
Mass spectra are generated on an orbitrap instrument, to ensure isobaric amino acid determination.
SEQUENCING
Peptides are de novo sequencing and assembled using proprietary, built-for-purpose software.
EXPRESSION
Optional: Recombinant expression of antibody and binding evaluation.
**Check out our recent blog post that summarizes when to use these monoclonal antibody sequencing services. Also, read our publication on how we resurrected a clinical antibody.
Deliverables
Sequences
Full-length amino acid sequences for heavy and light chain.
Interactive report
An interactive, web-based report of the entire antibody sequence.
Analysis
Coverage analysis demonstrating support for each predicted amino acid.
Antibodies
Recombinant expression and binding validation.
Polyclonal Antibody Sequencing
Have a polyclonal antibody and want to determine sequences of individual monoclonals within the mix? Check our Griffin service for sequencing polyclonal antibodies.
Not sure what type of service is right for your sample? We created a blog post to help determine the best solution for your sample
